Maybe like dogs or something ...?
Here we are around sunset of January 3. We survived the "failures" of January 2 and woke up to face yet another day of 2020. As we opened up social media this morning, we were slapped in the face with the two most trending topics in media today: that just two days into the new decade Australia's wildfires are out of control and "World War III" is around the corner.
(Disclaimer: You, Me & Coffee will not be a political blog as the intent of this blog is not to express my political opinions to all of you or get into any debates, but to share relatable feel-good content. I like to leave political writing in the hands of the pros!)
I know what you're thinking - how are we supposed to have positive attitudes about the new decade if this is how things are going on a larger scale so far? Well, the answer is quite simple ... embrace the little things as much as you possibly can.
Here's what I mean. My 4 year old niece is the most clever little girl I have ever met (yes, I am bias - you would be too!). I like to treat my niece like I would anyone else - she has her own opinions, can make her own choices, etc. So, just for fun, I asked her what I should write my blog about today. Her response was, "Umm maybe like dogs or something ... I don't know??" and I chuckled and said, "Perfect, I love dogs".
Dogs. Here's one opinion I will share - dogs are truly a man's best friend. They are there for us when we are happy, sad, lost, lonely, lazy, bored, frustrated ... in other words, they are there for us always. My 4 year old niece is growing up in a family full of dogs and we have all witnessed her love for dogs sky rocket through the years. It's no surprise that she told me to write about dogs today.
When I say embrace the little things, I mean grab onto the silly things the kids close to you say, snuggle your pets just a little bit more. Whatever your definition of "the little things" is, reach for it, grasp it, and don't let go. I promise you, doing this will help you get through the scariest realities of today, tomorrow, and the next day.
